Police also reported that “commercial weight” narcotics were found at the scene.

A 44-year-old Boston man was arrested after allegedly ramming his vehicle into a state police cruiser before fleeing the scene, officials said Tuesday.

Just after 8 p.m. on Friday, police deployed a tracking device on a vehicle that failed to stop in Boston. This is evident from a statement from the Massachusetts State Police.

Star Chase tracking devices are currently operated by state police for the purpose of “de-escalating and avoiding dangerous pursuits” of “individuals who evade police on roadways and could cause further harm in the community,” the statement said.

Using the device, troopers located the vehicle on Thwing Street in Boston – a cul-de-sac near the Jackson Square Orange Line station.

When an officer approached the vehicle, the suspect rammed his vehicle into the police car several times before fleeing on foot, authorities said. The soldier driving the stricken cruiser was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

After the driver, later identified as Keion Rowell, allegedly crashed his vehicle into the state police cruiser, officials at the scene discovered evidence of narcotics and identified the suspect, the statement said.

Rowell was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with trafficking in cocaine, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury, according to the police. .

Local, state and federal law enforcement officers worked together to find and arrest Rowell in Randolph, Massachusetts.
