Nancy Mace Reportedly Attacked by ‘Pro-Trans Man’

U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace claims she was attacked in the U.S. Capitol by an activist enraged by her efforts to ban transgender women from female-designated spaces and restrooms.

The alleged attack took place on Tuesday, December 10.

Capitol Police arrested James McIntyre, 33, of Illinois, at the Rayburn House Office Building after receiving a report that the South Carolina Republican had been attacked. McIntyre is accused of assaulting a government official. Depending on the severity of the attack, this could result in significant prison sentences.


Capitol Police did not elaborate on the incident or provide a motive. Still, they noted that McIntyre had undergone a routine security check for visitors at the Capitol Reuters.

“I was physically accosted on the Capitol grounds tonight for my fight to protect women. Capitol Police arrested him,” Mace wrote a message on her Congress X account on Tuesday evening. “All the violence and threats continue to prove our point. Women deserve to be safe.”

In a separate message In her personal account and Campaign X account, Mace described her attacker as a “pro-trans man.”


She added a warning to her critics and detractors: “Your trans violence and threats to my life will only double down on me.”

Mace has attracted attention by positioning herself as the new face of the fight to protect women and their privacy rights. a resolution to ban U.S. Rep.-elect Sarah McBride (D-Del.) from entering or using women’s facilities, including restrooms and locker rooms.

In response to Mace’s outrage, House Speaker Mike Johnson said established a policy prohibiting transgender people from using multi-use facilities, such as restrooms or locker rooms, that do not correspond to their assigned sex at birth on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol.



McBride, who is transgender, has since said she will abide by the rule, though she has criticized by some activists who note that she, like all other members, has a toilet in her office.

Meanwhile, they claim, other transgender people, including staff and visitors, will be forced to use a limited number of single-stall toilets or delay using the toilet if they do not want to comply with the rule.

Mace, meanwhile, has doubled down on his winnings by introducing a bill that would ban transgender people from using restrooms or other spaces that align with their gender identity in any federal building or property owned by the U.S. government.

That action led to several protests against both her bill and the Capitol’s current restroom ban, including a sit-in attended by several protesters were arrested.
