Haryana: Sonepat shopkeeper charged for rape and impregnation of 15-year-old girl

Sonepat police have arrested a shopkeeper for raping and impregnating a 15-year-old girl who delivered a premature baby girl on Friday. According to a Sonepat police spokesperson, the girl, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, complained of pain during delivery on Friday after which an ambulance was called and she delivered the baby in the ambulance on the way to Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women in Khanpur Kalan. .

In the complaint to the civil police station in Sonepat, the girl’s father said his daughter was raped by a local shopkeeper six months ago when he and his wife had gone to work.

“We suspect that the accused offered my daughter some intoxicant before raping her and may have also tried to give her some pills for abortion,” he added.

The police spokesperson said the suspect has been charged with rape under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. A manhunt has been launched to arrest him.
