The Miami Heat could reportedly be willing to trade star forward Jimmy Butler before the February 6 deadline.

According to an NBA insider Jake FischerThere is “increasing belief” within the NBA that Miami would move Butler for “fair value.” Several teams also believe that the veteran is “seriously looking at new destinations” for the first time.

The Heat are confident that a trade for Butler can potentially be found, as Fischer noted there are “no concerns” within the organization surrounding Butler’s departure to Miami without compensation.

The 35 year old couldn’t to agree to a contract extension with the Heat over the summer, putting his long-term future as a member of the team in jeopardy. Butler could hit free agency after the 2024-25 season as he has a $52.4 million portfolio player option for his 2025-2026 campaign.

According to Fischer, there is a “widespread belief” that he is committed to declining the player option regardless of a potential trade from the Heat.

HoopsHypes Michael Scotto reported on December 2 that there have been “quiet discussions” in league circles surrounding the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks as suitors for Butler.

Sam Amick of The Athletic also revealed that the Golden State Warriors expressed interest in the six-time All-Star over the summer.

Needless to say, it shouldn’t be difficult for the Heat to find a willing partner if they choose to seriously explore trades with Butler before the deadline.

He is in the midst of another efficient season with Miami, despite a relatively low scoring total. In 18 starts this year, Butler is averaging 18.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game on 55.0/36.0/77.8 shooting splits.

His effective field goal percentage of 57.3 would also mark a career high over the course of a full season.

The Heat have failed to establish themselves as one of the Eastern Conference’s best teams to open the year, sitting at 13-10. If Miami continues to hover around .500 as the trade deadline approaches, Butler could be on the move.
