The attack left nine people dead and 41 others injured.

In its complaint before the NIA Special Court in Jammu, the agency has charged arrested accused Hakam Khan alias Hakim Din under various sections of the IPC and the UA(P) Act, an official NIA spokesperson said.

On June 9 this year, heavily armed terrorists had fired indiscriminately at the bus as it reached Kanda near Jhandi Morh.

The attack left eight pilgrims and the bus driver dead and 41 pilgrims seriously injured.

“The attack was aimed at unleashing terror among the general public and those visiting the state of Jammu and Kashmir for pilgrimage. Due to the shooting, the bus driver lost control of the car after being hit in the head with a bullet,” the spokesperson said.

As a result, the bus rolled into a deep gorge, resulting in tragic deaths and injuries.

NIA, which was directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to take over the investigation, had arrested Hakam after detailed investigation and examination of evidence.

“Hakam had confessed to being part of the conspiracy behind the attack, which was carried out by three terrorists with his active logistical support,” NIA investigation revealed.

Besides providing food and accommodation arrangements to terrorists, Hakam Din had helped the terrorists identify an ideal location to carry out the attack, NIA further found.

The investigation into the case is still ongoing.
